Year 7 Science Lesson

In Physics, the students from Y7B studied air resistance, one of the forces slowing things down. They designed their own parachutes from plastic bags and as parachutists they used various toys. They weighed the mass of the parachutist by using an electronic scale and they measured the surface area of the parachute. They launched the parachutes from the balcony of the indoor courtyard and measured the time taken to fall down was measured with a stopwatch. They noticed that air resistance is affected by both surface area and the weight.

Year 9 Science Lesson

In Biology, the students from Y9 learnt about the different types of microscopes, the main parts of a light microscope and they started to study about cells, specialised cells and how cells join together to form a tissue. They used the microscopes to visualise different specimens originating from both plants and animals.

Fancy Dress Event

Fancy dress on Friday 15th November 2019 was a great opportunity for our children to dress as one of their favourite hero or book character, have fun with their friends and teachers, but also help a noble cause. Our children have made a collection and contributed with money in order to support the children in need as part of our newly created collaboration with Asociatia C.O.P.I.I.

United Day Celebration – 25 October

This was an amazing day; a great opportunity for the BIST community to get together and celebrate the international spirit of our school, diversity, respect and tolerance for other cultures and nationalities. The show has revealed the creativity and talent of our children and has helped us put in practice a number of our school values. All in all, it was the perfect end of a first very busy half term. Congratulations to all our students and teachers and many thanks to our parents for sharing the moment with us!

Year 9 parents workshop / Checkpoint and beyond – 9 October

Parents – school partnership is fundamentally important at BIST in order to ensure the best possible experience for the children in the school. From this perspective the Year 9 parents (and their children) were given important information about the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 examination programme in an attempt to support them with important decisions children will have to make in February 2020 when they will choose their subjects for the GCSE programme in Year 10 and 11.
