School Director's Message

Cadre Didactice British Partial Edit-72

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the British International School of Timișoara.

Education is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. It shapes not only their future, but also their character, values, confidence, and understanding of the world around them. As parents and educators, we share the responsibility of providing an environment in which every child can feel safe, valued, challenged, and inspired to fulfil their potential.

At BIST, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience built upon the strengths of a British-based curriculum and enriched by a genuinely international outlook. Today, we are proud to have established ourselves as a leading international school in the region and one of the most extensively accredited international schools in the country. These achievements are important to us not simply as distinctions, but because they reflect the standards, accountability, and continuous improvement that underpin everything we do.

Excellence is deeply embedded in the DNA of our school. Whether as a student, teacher, leader, or member of our wider community, we believe in striving to excel in everything we undertake. For us, however, excellence is never an end in itself. It must have meaning, direction, and purpose. This belief is captured in our shared vision: Excellence with Purpose – Shaping Futures Together.

This vision reflects both who we are and what we aspire to become. Excellence with purpose means setting ambitious standards while ensuring that achievement is accompanied by integrity, responsibility, compassion, and a desire to contribute positively to the world around us. Shaping futures together recognises that education is a shared endeavour. Students, teachers, parents, leaders, and the wider school community all play an essential role in creating the environment in which young people can flourish.

Academic excellence is therefore central to what we do, but our understanding of education extends far beyond examination results. We seek to develop the whole child, placing equal importance on intellectual curiosity, emotional wellbeing, personal responsibility, resilience, independence, and respect for others. We want our students not merely to achieve highly, but to understand their strengths, discover their passions, embrace challenges, and develop the confidence to pursue meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Our school is characterised by a welcoming and supportive atmosphere in which relationships are built on trust, respect, compassion, and a strong sense of community. We believe that the highest standards of education flourish within a clear framework of shared values, high expectations, consistency, and equal opportunity. Every member of our community has a responsibility to uphold these principles and contribute positively to the life and continued development of our school.

Our ambition is that students leave BIST as knowledgeable, responsible, independent, and confident young adults, prepared not simply for the next stage of their education, but for life beyond school. We encourage them to think independently, engage with the wider world, demonstrate leadership, and recognise that their education carries with it both opportunity and responsibility.

As BIST continues to grow, mature, and develop, we remain determined never to become complacent. Our commitment is to continually raise our standards, strengthen the opportunities available to our students, and build upon what we have already achieved. Excellence is not a destination for our school; it is an ongoing commitment shared by everyone who is part of our community.

I warmly invite you to visit the British International School of Timișoara, meet our students and colleagues, experience teaching and learning first-hand, and discover the distinctive atmosphere of our school. I hope that you and your family will choose to become part of our community and join us as we continue shaping futures together.

Located in the northern part of Timișoara, our campus brings together a renovated historic building and a modern facility inaugurated in 2023. Together, they create a learning environment where tradition meets innovation.

The campus can accommodate approximately 900 students and includes fully equipped laboratories, libraries in both buildings, multi-purpose spaces and one of the most modern PE halls in the city, alongside generous outdoor sports facilities and green areas.
Beyond academic spaces, a canteen and coffee shop bring students and staff together, contributing to the sense of community that defines daily life at BIST.
