Silviu is our Head of Secondary and Associate IB Coordinator, playing a central role in both the academic leadership of the Secondary School and the continued development of our IB Diploma Programme. A committed believer in the philosophy and values of the IB, he brings considerable dedication, academic rigour and enthusiasm to his work. He is also one of our students’ favourite members of staff, valued for his knowledge, approachability and genuine commitment to their success.

Silviu has an exceptional academic record. He obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from the University of Bucharest before continuing his doctoral studies at the same institution.

Before joining the British International School of Timișoara, Silviu worked at a British school in Bucharest, where he taught Science across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and also held responsibilities for examinations and timetabling.

His academic career extends well beyond the classroom. As a researcher at both the University of Bucharest and the Politehnica University of Bucharest, Silviu published numerous scientific articles in international journals and contributed to several international research projects. His academic work also earned him grants to study and conduct research at Universität Karlsruhe in Germany, the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, and the University of Pavia in Italy.

Dedicated, meticulous and deeply committed to education, Silviu has become an integral part of our school community. Outside school, he is an avid reader, enjoys cycling and has a particular passion for photography.
